Spain Day Four

For our last day we decided to take an open top bus tour of Valencia.  It was a really good way to see a lot of sights, and a lot less tiring than pushing a stroller all over the city.

Waiting at a museum for the tour bus to pick us up

On the bus

Another good cuddle with Ethan

We took a break from the bus tour and took the kids to the Gulliver park.  It is a big sculpture based on the story Gulliver's Travels, with lots of slides and places for kids to climb.

It was hot at the park.  Collin was really tired out after that.

Our next stop on the tour was the Plaza de la Reina.  It was right in the heart of the oldest part of Valencia.  It was a great atmosphere.  We loved looking at all the beautiful old buildings.  The kids were not loving the buildings so much, but we had enough snacks to keep them happy for a while.

After spending a few hours at the Plaza it was time to head back to the hotel.

This is the hotel we stayed at.  They were in the process of painting the outside

The hotel had a pool on top of the roof

Spain Day Three

Our second trip to the beach.
This time the sun was shining and the water was warm.

The sand in Valencia is really soft.  It was great for Collin to play in.  Not so great for Ethan, because he kept eating it and rubbing it in his eyes.

Collin and Grandpa spent a lot of time in the water.

I loved cuddling with Ethan in my lounge chair, but yes, those white legs of mine did get very sunburned.

Another sunburn waiting to happen.  It has been over a week and Johnny is still peeling.  Thankfully, the kids stayed sunburn free.

After the beach, it was back to the City of Arts and Sciences.

We were going to watch an IMAX movie at L'Hemisferic.  The movie is projected on to a dome and you lay back while you watch it.

This is the L'Hemisferic building.  You can see the dome inside where you watch the movie.

A different view of L'Hemisferic.

This is another structure called L'Umbracle.  It was a big walkway with many different species of plants and flowers.

This is the headset we all had to wear in the movie, so we could hear the English translation.  Collin loved it.  He pretended he was a Storm Trooper from Star Wars the whole time.

Spain Day Two

Ready for a day of sightseeing

As soon as we figure out where we are going

The following photos are from the City of Arts and Sciences Center in Valencia.  It was a really fun place to visit.  You could spend a whole day just walking around the outside of the buildings.  The architecture was amazing, like something from another planet.

L'Oceanografic is one of the buildings in The City of Arts and Sciences Center.  Underneath this building is a HUGE aquarium.  You are not allowed to take pictures, but take my word for it we saw A LOT of fish, dolphins, sharks whales, penguins, seals......you get the idea.  We did take a few above ground photos.

Spain Day One

Our first trip to the beach.
It was a bit overcast, but it was still fun to see the Mediterranean for the first time.
